Captain Tortue Fashion Show at The Cumberland Hotel

Today I attended my first Captain Tortue Fashion Show at the stylish Cumberland Hotel with my good friend Alice Wood, who is one of the company’s Regional Directors for this stylish French Clothing Brand.

Once inside the venue, it was clear to see the normal hussle and bussle associated with fashion shows behind the scenes, with the stylists rushing around preparing for the models to walk,  swish and sashay their way down the catwalk.  I was greeted by a member of staff, given my name badge, handed a Captain Tortue goodie bag and shown to my seat as one of Alice’s guests right down the front, where I was able to get a great view of the catwalk.

All of this was executed efficiently and swiftly, within minutes just before the formalities of the fashion show began.

Captain Tortue is a direct selling company that specialises in selling its stylish clothing range directly to women in their homes or at a Fashion Styling Workshop organised by the Consultant.  I have had the pleasure of attending Alice’s special VIP Styling Workshops at home and all that I can say is that it is a wonderful experience to shop for clothes, try on at your leisure get great styling advice all enjoyed with great company and a glass of bubbly!  Now, that’s a fun way to shop for the Spring wardrobe.

The ceremony was opened by the Marketing Director and there were several achievement announcements made.  We were then treated to an insight into the inspiration of how the Spring Summer 2013 collection was created.  We were taken on a journey through Portugal and the story was told through the eyes of the lense of the video and the beautifully shot pictures and film footage to really capture the essence of being in a beautiful hot climate by the sea,  dressed in the most easiest clothes to wear that looked chic and stylish which captures the unique style of the Captain Tortue range which offers a french twist that is evident throughout all of their ranges.

The catwalk started with the children’s range, which was full of child friendly beach-like casual wear in blues, reds and whites.  It was easy to see how a few pieces could be teamed up to create a different look for different occasions.

Then we got to the part that we were all waiting for – the women’s collection.  There was a sense of anticipation and excitement as the women in the room were expectantly waiting to see the fashion trends for the forthcoming season and of course what they would be selling as well as wearing.  Captain Tortue Consultants wear the clothes as part of their personal wardrobe (so they literally do walk the talk), which is why as a business the Consultants and the brand sell so well.  The best way to sell anything is to believe in the product or service and become part of the brand itself.  What was great to see was that nearly all of the women in the room were wearing the Captain Tortue clothing, yet they all looked absolutely amazing and unique wearing the clothes in their own way.

I have personally bought many pieces from the Miss Captain range which is part of the Captain Tortue fashion collection, which is more fitting with my own personality and style.  I like the way that any of the Captain Tortue pieces can be dressed up for a special occasion, evening out or dressed down for a more casual look just by adding appropriate accessories or by wearing a pair of heels instead of flats.  In fact all of the pieces are so versatile that they can be bought as separates or as complete outfits for you to mix and match as you please throughout the season.   If you are looking for well made, stylish, incredibly flattering garments with generous sizes, then look no further ladies as this brand was created with you in mind and is beautifully designed to work with the many shapes of women.

The colours chosen by Captain Tortue for the Spring Summer 2013 collection is a mix of black, grey, blue, white and stone teamed up beautifully with the vibrant corals, yellows and electric blue.  All in all the fashion show of the collection was quite an insight into what to expect to see on the high street very soon.
